Finished jumping jacks printed on cardstock and mounted on non-archival Cheerio box cardboard.
Initial sketch ideas. The clothes for the characters were inspired by everyday clothes and Halloween costume patterns from 1910's, which is an era that I love. As you can see, the owl initially wore a not-very-exciting waistcoat instead of the wizard robes.
The sketches were imported into iPad Procreate and finalized, with the main body and limbs on separate layers. They were then exported as individual Photoshop files to Adobe Illustrator. The layers were rasterized and masked and given a .125" blue outline for cutting. The final shapes and assembly directions were then arranged as best fit an 8.5x11" space. They were saved out as 200 dpi .jpgs and exported from Adobe InDesign using the "Publish Online" feature for downloading. (Click here for the downloadable file page.)
